Riverside Drive Dump
Capital Skips, who had been using the area next to Hertfordshire County Council's domestic waste site, had been given notice to quit. Regrettably, as local residents will have noticed, they left the site in an appalling condition.
A flurry of correspondence between Committee members over the New Year resulted in enquiries being made of TRDC. Our Chairman was advised that a councillor had received a telephone message from HCC on Christmas Eve that they had made the site secure, but that Capital Skips had left all their waste. HCC would ensure this was cleared as soon as possible, but the holiday period caused some delay. HCC has appointed a firm to assess the situation and arrange clearance. They have to get a report from a specialist consultant upon the nature of the rubbish deposited before than can arrange final disposal. HCC will be taking legal action against Capital Skips over the matter.
(April 2006: the site was finally cleared after investigation. We hope that Capital Skips will eventually refund the costs involved!)
