FUTURE OPTIONS FOR THREE RIVERS
THE LOCAL DEVELOPMENT FRAMEWORK
Three Rivers District Council [TRDC] is required to prepare and keep up to
date a plan to guide future development in the district. The Council will have
to ensure that services are provided to support the plan, and safeguard the
interests of people living in the District's towns, villages, and countryside.
The plan is called the Local Development Framework, [LDF].
The LDF is a most important document, because the Council's Planning Department
will use it when considering planning applications for all aspects of development
in the future. The Council is currently preparing the LDF, and as part of that
process, it wishes to consult the local community about the topics to be included
in the Framework. By doing so, it should ensure that the LDF reflects the communities'
wishes. It is, therefore, important that the preparation of the Framework is
given the widest possible publicity commensurate with obtaining the maximum
involvement and response from the community.
There is a questionnaire currently in circulation, seeking information from
the public, plus a further mass of information on the Council's website. Many
people may find the prospect of reading the information rather daunting. Nevertheless,
it is in the interest of all to be familiar with what is going on. It will be
too late to object to "eyesores" after they have been built, or to
find that the green belt is disappearing before one's eyes. Do look at the Council's
website and in particular read the following documents:
"The Local Development Framework" - a document outlining the process
the Council will undertake in developing the LDF.
"Planning your future" - a questionnaire that will help the Council
to put together its preferred options for the core strategy. Copies of the questionnaire
are available from a stand in the entrance to the Council office. The closing
date for submitting the completed questionnaire is 31st July.
Further information can be obtained from the web as follows:www.threerivers.gov.uk
Once on the home page, insert into the "search panel" on the top left
hand side of the page the words "Local Development Plan". Then, when
the page appears, click on the third document listed on the page, [with Content
Type: EGCL Web Page], described as the Local Development Framework. There is
a lot of information to digest on other pages in that section of the site. Please
attempt to fill in the questionnaire, although you may not be able to answer
all questions. Should you not feel able to complete the questionnaire, but would
like to offer some comments, please do so by sending your ideas to the e-mail
address:
